These past few months have been, hands down, the most exciting for my family for as far back as I can remember.  My older sister (and only sibling) Melanie is pregnant with a baby girl!  Penelope Joy, aka Baby Penny.

A few weeks back Brandon and I flew down to Charleston, SC to see my family and finally find out the gender of the baby.  Because Brandon and I are the only ones out of my family now that still live in Michigan, Mel and Kev waited for us to fly down so we could all find out together what this little bundle of joy would be :).  Earlier that week, the doctor had slipped the gender discretely into an envelope, and they headed to the baker. They instructed him to bake a simple cake, and the inner frosting was to be either blue or pink.  That way, once we were finally all together, we would cut the cake and know the gender!

And it was pink :)

Below are some images from that afternoon, and some photographs I took of my beautifully pregnant sister the following morning.  Words cannot explain how much I miss my family, especially during this extremely happy and emotional time.

I love you all….and Penny, I can’t wait to hold you in my arms….

Totally not their last name…

(BTW, my sister and kevin have an obnoxiously cute little blog documenting their journey with little penny…definitely worth a read if you are the type to exclaim “awwwwwwwe!!” ;))

Every year for the holidays Brandon and I take a trip down to Charleston, SC to spend Christmas with my family.  In case you haven’t read before, my entire immediate family (mom, dad, sister + brother-in-law and grandma) all packed up and moved down south a couple of years ago.  Brandon and I actually moved down as well, but after a year came back up to Michigan.  LONG STORY SHORT, we take turns spending Christmas with my family and Brandon’s family, so this year we went down to celebrate over Thanksgiving.

Mel and Kev (my sister and brother-in-law) just moved into their beautiful new home, and I can’t express enough just how great it was to snuggle up and relax with the whole fam and watch Christmas movies, exchange gifts, and just hang out.  I wish I could get in the car and be there within 10 minutes whenever I wanted! We do visit each other several times throughout the year as well, but it just isn’t enough! This trip was also exciting because this was our first time driving down our baby Crowley and introducing him to the other family pups.  Much to our surprise, they got along great!  You see, Charlie and Stanley are little punks and like to pretend they are gang-bangers sometimes, but luckily Crowley is a big clumsy doofus and they loved each other.

Here are some photos I snapped over our vacation and our time at the beach!

Mike and Katie tied the knot just over a year ago, and are such a beautiful couple (inside, and obviously out)! Katie is quite possibly the sweetest girl I have ever met, and Mike just adores her.  Katie is a law student at UofM, and was so excited to be able to take a break and pencil in some time to forget about studying, and just love on her hubby…and their pup!  We started off with their little pup Bandit for some holiday photos.  Bandit is 5 years old and looks like a forever puppy, I love him!! As soon as I got in the car he gave me the sad lover eyes and inched closer to snuggle up.  Omg me melts my heart.  After we dropped off Bandit, we did a quick change of wardrobe and headed to campus for our “love session”.  Who says you need to be engaged to have an excuse to take hott pics of you and your man?? No one!

Katie and Mike, thanks for a great time and I hope you love them! :)
